General William Mitchell (T-AP-114)

The USS General William Mitchell operated by the Military Sea Transportation Service as a troop and dependent carrier, was built at Kearny, New Jersey in 1943, and was named in honor of Brig. General William (Billy) Mitchell, America's colorful and prophetic advocate of military air power. Ship dimensions:  623 feet long, 76 feet wide, displace 17,833 gross tons, cruise speed 19 knots.
